From 851e8782d569dde91ae9ba72a377854ea582949b Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: jochen Date: Mon, 26 Oct 2026 19:49:39 +0100 Subject: [PATCH 1/9] Nodes compose: the catalogue's placement files and their check, mesh-config reading placement, the vault's own and pair credentials, the forge's commit trees (issue 1126) One commit for the branch feat/1126-nodes-compose of mesh-catalog: its 15 commits squashed so its history does not carry two compiled programs committed by mistake and removed later, mesh-config (5.5 MB) and checks/placement (6.2 MB) (issue 1577). The tree equals the former head 2db56067. The operator allowed this rewrite of the feature branch on 2026-10-26. --- .gitignore | 2 + checks/placement/go.mod | 5 + checks/placement/go.sum | 28 +++ checks/placement/main.go | 80 +++++++ checks/placement/main_test.go | 55 +++++ checks/placement/reads-outside | 1 + modules/gitea/client.ts | 22 +- modules/gitea/test/commit-trees.test.ts | 16 +- modules/gitea/tools/index.ts | 16 +- modules/mesh-config/cmd/mesh-config/main.go | 2 +- .../cmd/mesh-config/pulled_in_test.go | 12 + .../mesh-config/cmd/mesh-config/resolve.go | 5 +- .../mesh-config/cmd/mesh-config/sources.go | 32 +++ modules/mesh-config/module.json | 1 + .../mesh-vault/cmd/mesh-vault/nodekey_test.go | 69 ++++-- modules/mesh-vault/cmd/mesh-vault/ownnode.go | 215 ++++++++++++++++++ .../mesh-vault/cmd/mesh-vault/ownnode_test.go | 92 ++++++++ modules/mesh-vault/cmd/mesh-vault/tools.go | 28 +++ modules/mesh-vault/module.json | 3 +- 19 files changed, 661 insertions(+), 23 deletions(-) create mode 100644 checks/placement/go.mod create mode 100644 checks/placement/go.sum create mode 100644 checks/placement/main.go create mode 100644 checks/placement/main_test.go create mode 100644 checks/placement/reads-outside create mode 100644 modules/mesh-vault/cmd/mesh-vault/ownnode.go create mode 100644 modules/mesh-vault/cmd/mesh-vault/ownnode_test.go diff --git a/.gitignore b/.gitignore index a95e38a3..9552fa38 100644 --- a/.gitignore +++ b/.gitignore @@ -35,6 +35,8 @@ modules/mesh-build-image/cmd/mesh-build-image/mesh-build-image /checks/paths/paths /modules/mesh-build-go/mesh-build-go /modules/mesh-delivery-gate/mesh-delivery-gate +modules/mesh-config/cmd/mesh-config/mesh-config +checks/placement/placement # ba49a7f0f9360361894372087f0a6364f8247a70 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: jochen Date: Mon, 26 Oct 2026 22:02:58 +0100 Subject: [PATCH 5/9] mesh-build-go: a reads-outside marker lists what its tests read, so its package is kept until one of those files changes (issue 1936) 47 packages carried the marker and were never kept: about 2000 tests per level ran on every check, whatever it changed. The marker now lists, as paths or globs from the repository's root (? before a path whose absence is read), what the package's tests read outside it; the digest hashes those files with the package's own non-Go files. A marker that lists nothing, names an unclean path, or a line that matches nothing keeps today's never-kept digest. The 46 markers list their reads; checks/deps and checks/trunk lose theirs (their tests read only temporary directories). Digest form 6. Quick fix of issue 1936, chosen by the operator 2026-10-26 21:56; the thorough fix (the Go test log's files kept with each verdict) stays on the issue. --- checks/agenthome/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/config/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/deps/reads-outside | 1 - checks/health/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/imagebuild/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/imageplace/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/locks/reads-outside | 8 +- checks/mailstore/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/nobinaries/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/noscripts/reads-outside | 8 +- checks/owned/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/particulars/reads-outside | 7 +- checks/paths/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/predefined/reads-outside | 7 +- checks/secrets/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/sshdir/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/templates/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/toolchains/reads-outside | 6 +- checks/trunk/reads-outside | 1 - checks/words/reads-outside | 8 +- .../adwaita/internal/desktop/reads-outside | 10 +- .../blueman/cmd/blueman-tools/reads-outside | 26 ++- modules/brother/cmd/brother/reads-outside | 7 +- .../cmd/forticlient-tools/reads-outside | 26 ++- modules/i3/internal/desktop/reads-outside | 10 +- modules/lemurs/internal/desktop/reads-outside | 10 +- .../cmd/mesh-build-go/beside_digest_test.go | 2 +- .../mesh-build-go/cmd/mesh-build-go/digest.go | 154 ++++++++++++++++-- .../cmd/mesh-build-go/digest_test.go | 75 +++++++-- .../cmd/mesh-build-go/reads-outside | 8 +- .../cmd/mesh-build-image/reads-outside | 11 +- .../cmd/mesh-build-node/reads-outside | 6 +- .../cmd/mesh-delivery-gate/reads-outside | 6 +- .../mesh-issues/cmd/mesh-issues/reads-outside | 8 +- .../cmd/mesh-knowledge/reads-outside | 6 +- .../cmd/mesh-mail-notifier/reads-outside | 6 +- .../cmd/mesh-mail-reader/reads-outside | 6 +- modules/mesh-mail/cmd/mesh-mail/reads-outside | 6 +- .../cmd/mesh-provisioner-client/reads-outside | 8 +- modules/minio/cmd/object-store/reads-outside | 6 +- .../cmd/uplink-tools/reads-outside | 7 +- .../cmd/nextcloud-client-tools/reads-outside | 26 ++- .../cmd/nm-applet-tools/reads-outside | 26 ++- .../cmd/openrazer-tools/reads-outside | 26 ++- modules/pacman/cmd/pacman-tools/reads-outside | 6 +- .../cmd/polychromatic-tools/reads-outside | 26 ++- .../cmd/postgres-provider/reads-outside | 6 +- modules/slack/cmd/slack-tools/reads-outside | 26 ++- .../cmd/uplink-tools/reads-outside | 7 +- modules/xorg/internal/desktop/reads-outside | 10 +- modules/xterm/internal/desktop/reads-outside | 10 +- 51 files changed, 613 insertions(+), 78 deletions(-) delete mode 100644 checks/deps/reads-outside delete mode 100644 checks/trunk/reads-outside diff --git a/checks/agenthome/reads-outside b/checks/agenthome/reads-outside index f6b2d871..8fc7689d 100644 --- a/checks/agenthome/reads-outside +++ b/checks/agenthome/reads-outside @@ -1 +1,5 @@ -These tests read files outside this directory (the whole catalogue, the repository, or its root files): mesh-build-go never keeps this package's verdict (issue 1935). +# What these tests read outside their package, as paths from the repository's root (a glob, or a directory read whole; +# ? before a path whose absence is read). mesh-build-go hashes them into the package's digest, so its verdict is kept +# until one of them changes (issue 1936).
