Once main requires mesh/check, nothing writes mesh/merge-gate, and the merge
tool, which judged on it, would refuse every merge. It now judges on the
status the base requires: mesh/check's line names the trunk it judged, an
out-of-date one is refused and nothing is asked (the checker re-checks on a
trunk move, ADR 0447 §4); hq's mesh/repo-check is judged as before. The
announcer, the verdict, a trunk's move and a build's start write the
controller's two statuses only where a base still requires them, so hq keeps
mesh/repo-check and no stale mesh/merge-gate appears anywhere else.
Once main requires mesh/check, a hand that set it could pass a merge past the
checker, the gap issue 293 closed for the two statuses before it.
gitea_commit_status now refuses mesh/check in every state, and the new
gitea_check_status writes it alone; the bus grants that tool only to a module
whose manifest invokes it, the forge bridge (the lead's choice A).
The recheck's pending was written from the tools' bundle, its own process, past the
writer's per-head chain: the first run's verdict mark stayed set, so a rechecked head
never said where its new run builds, and an old run's verdict in flight or redelivered
could land over the pending. The status tool is now served from the watcher's bundle
and writes the merge check's pending through the writer, and a verdict whose ask
(checked.id) predates the check now pending is dropped, weighed after a restart against
the forge's own history of the gate (novox/hq issue 456).
A recheck asks of the head the forge already judged, and the forge keeps
the newest status of each context on it. Nobody reset mesh/merge-gate or
mesh/repo-check, so the old green stood and branch protection would merge
on it while the fresh check ran; rechecked heads did turn red.
mesh-delivery's recheck now asks the forge's holder to set the gate, and
the repository check when the head holds one, to pending ("checking
again: <why>") before it asks the controller; a forge that cannot be told
refuses the recheck whole. The gitea holder takes pending, and only
pending, on the merge check's statuses by hand: no verdict, so issue 293
still holds.
Branch protection requires mesh/merge-gate (and mesh/repo-check on the core
repositories) with no admin override, and the forge combines warning as a
failure. A note is now a success that says it; a repository without a
merge-check.sh is a success where repo-check is not required and a failure
for a person where it is; the status tool refuses the merge check's contexts.
One module answers 'did my change go out' for a commit and orders a
cross-repository change: one compiled state table, its state on the bus,
every transition said, noted on the commit and shown on the pull request.
The forge's holder gains the note, view and status tools it asks with, and
says closed pull requests and a merge's head and statuses.
