A build the controller held back for a person reaches its machines by a backlog walk on the
operator's word, which credits the delivery that published the build one step per machine and
never the walk's own "every machine running it". Its last record keeps no gate, only the machines
it is done on, so the credited steps stayed judging for ever, and `covered` read only the aggregate
steps, so the held merge had no end but a person's wrong act (the catalogue's #125, held 28 hours
after hq ADR 0270 went live).
A finished backlog walk now passes the steps it carried on the machines it is done on; `carries`
counts a module as sent everywhere when a passed step stands on every machine the held delivery's
plan sends it to; and a walk that carried a step still judging is asked for by its id, since one
that ended before the holder's restart may be older than the ended walks the controller lists
back. Three tests fail before and pass after.
- mesh-cli pins the SDK at its tag now that go/v0.1.9 exists, instead of a
pseudo-version of the branch it was cut from.
- mesh-delivery's stalled line for a head the forge never announced
carries the pull request's number, which the controller's condition
names in its headline.
The confirmation review asked for the delivery domain's own vocabulary
instead of a provider standing. A gitea health check would need a `tools`
list (turning gitea's tools into seat verbs), a check of another kind
beside it, and would hold the forge's own deliveries at the first-node
gate; so the delivery's owner says it, with the word it already has.
- gitea_open_pulls (gitea): every open pull request from the forge itself,
with what its base requires and the statuses its head has.
- mesh-delivery asks it every five minutes and keeps its own first-seen
time per head (the forge's update time moves on every comment). A head
on a base requiring mesh/merge-gate OR mesh/repo-check (hq requires only
the second) with neither for ten minutes is a `stalled` line in state
`unannounced`, which the controller raises as delivery.<id>.stalled (D14);
H2 has nothing to close. Once announced it is a delivery of its own.
- The gitea-side watcher and its provider standing are gone.
Merge order on a protected trunk was the whole proof; the review asked for ancestry. The gitea module
gains gitea_contains, a read-only compare of two commits (total_commits 0 is contained), and mesh-delivery
asks it once per pair, off the lock like its plan ask, keeping the answer on the delivery. A forge that
cannot say leaves the merge held, not covered. Merge order stays the cheap first filter.
A later delivery now carries a module only when its own check passed (so a merge held without a passing
check is closed only by one that passed), its walk is of its own merge commit on the same trunk, and its
steps say the module reached every machine running it, not one. The words say what is known: a later
merge that contains it was delivered.
A held delivery asked a person a question with no right answer: four hq merges that build nothing,
merges adding a module the controller sends nowhere, controller merges whose change a later walk of
the same trunk already delivered, and a group member held because its composed check had not yet
answered. Only stop could end them, which marks a delivered change as an error on its pull request.
- A merge whose plan moves no module (nothing, or only a new module sent nowhere) is delivered at once.
- A new final state, covered: every module a merge moves was sent by a finished walk of a later merge
into the same trunk, which contains it. Shown as success on the pull request; a group counts it as
delivered.
- A group member waits published while its composed check is asked and unanswered, and a member held
for it is lifted back to published once it passes for the heads that merged.
Read again each tick, so the deliveries already held end by themselves after the rollout.
A group whose order rules disagreed was refused as "its order contradicts
itself" with only the member ids: nobody could see which rules clashed or
what to write to resolve it. The controller now resolves rules by
precedence (hq ADR 0249) and answers, per pair, the rules it won over, and
per contradiction no precedence resolves, both rules and how to declare
the order. mesh-delivery keeps both, lists them in groups and the plan
note, and refuses a group by those words; a cycle through more members
names the pairs in it. An older controller's answer reads as before.
A recheck asks of the head the forge already judged, and the forge keeps
the newest status of each context on it. Nobody reset mesh/merge-gate or
mesh/repo-check, so the old green stood and branch protection would merge
on it while the fresh check ran; rechecked heads did turn red.
mesh-delivery's recheck now asks the forge's holder to set the gate, and
the repository check when the head holds one, to pending ("checking
again: <why>") before it asks the controller; a forge that cannot be told
refuses the recheck whole. The gitea holder takes pending, and only
pending, on the merge check's statuses by hand: no verdict, so issue 293
still holds.
Reading a pull request's mesh/merge-gate and mesh/repo-check meant scraping the controller's journal:
the forge clips each status to 140 characters and nothing returned the verdict whole. mesh-delivery
already keeps the verdict; it now keeps the machine that ran it, the layers' modules and the report,
and its checks verb joins that to the forge's statuses, read through a new gitea_commit_statuses tool
that also says whether the base's protection lets the commit merge.
after: novox/mesh-controller
A pull request's head announced again from the bus's history at
mesh-delivery's first start was proposed with no verdict and nothing
ever asked its check: the controller had taken that announcement long
before, and stalled raised it after an hour for the operator.
A proposed delivery with no verdict and no check asked is now asked
through delivery-check once it has waited past a grace longer than a
check takes; an announcement carrying its head's decided gate status
takes it. The proposed bound runs from the ask, and H2's close may
re-ask once (a table row) before the delivery is the operator's.
One module answers 'did my change go out' for a commit and orders a
cross-repository change: one compiled state table, its state on the bus,
every transition said, noted on the commit and shown on the pull request.
The forge's holder gains the note, view and status tools it asks with, and
says closed pull requests and a merge's head and statuses.
