The systemd and postgres modules' state directories said place ".", which is
/var/lib/systemd and /var/lib/postgres: directories the systemd and postgresql
packages own (root 0755; postgres 0700). The node-engine took both before issue
339's rule and gave them to the operator's account, 0700, on every machine; postgres's
grants directory, placed by default, lay inside /var/lib/postgres too.
What each module keeps moves to a directory of its own, "data", placed "mesh"
(/var/lib/mesh/systemd, /var/lib/mesh/postgres): the unlink record, and postgres's
own secrets (the same values: the vault keys them by name), consumers.json and
grants. The store's data stays /var/lib/mesh-store, untouched.
The node-engine keeps no found owner or mode for a directory, and forgets one no
longer declared as it stands; it sets the declared owner and mode on a directory it
recorded at the same path under the same id. So for this delivery "state" names
the package's directory with the package's owner and mode, and the engine gives it
back; the next change drops "state". The postgres container is recreated, its
secret's volume moving.
checks/owned/system-known keeps systemd state and postgres state, declared for
this delivery only; postgres's consumers and grants leave the list.
The record kept only the intent, so a failed unlink read as removed; each
link now gets a synced intent and outcome line, and the outcome is the
module's link.removal event so it is not only a file on one machine.
The put-back hint no longer advises a symlink, an aliased directory is
read once, a machine-wide removal from user scope is said, and the state
directory names no owner a machine without an account cannot resolve.
systemctl disable leaves a link whose unit file is gone, and the manager
keeps asking for the unit. The verb removes only such links in the
account's or the machine's own configuration, on the person's word, and
records each with its reason before removing it (hq issue 332).
systemctl expands *, ? and [ in a unit argument, so reset-failed or stop
of "*" would have acted on every unit. wanted-by called a link dangling on
any stat error, followed a linked .wants anywhere, and missed most of the
manager's load path; it now says each of these, and says nothing names a
unit only of the directories it searched.

So a leftover unit's trigger is found and its failed record cleared
through the seat, not a shell: wanted-by reads the manager's reverse
dependencies and the enable links naming the unit, saying which dangle.

An agent meets the mesh's words most often in tool descriptions, and
nothing compared them with the glossary: several still said "the host"
for the node-engine and the forge's pull request comment was headed
"Change plan", a word retired twice over. retired-words is the copy of
the words the glossary retires for the tools, and checks/words fails the
repository check when any string a module's code can show, or any
manifest description, uses one. Those found are reworded here.
mesh/delivery covered: a later merge that contains it was delivered: novox/mesh-catalog@cb733d1b7cea (merged as 2fa39eac into main, walk plan-17914094762…
An incident is read for the minutes it happened in (the operator's direction
2026-10-07): journal takes since, until, priority and a fixed-string match.
Every value is one word of journalctl's argv, held to the forms journalctl
reads, so nothing reaches a shell or is read as an option under sudo. What
the unit printed of a secret is redacted, as docker_logs does, before the
match is applied, so a match cannot find one.
systemd_failed becomes the seat's failed, with an optional scope. Needs the
controller's seat with these verbs (mesh-controller, same branch): an older
controller refuses a claim serving a verb its seat does not promise.
The journal verb ran journalctl as the operator account, which outside the
journal's group sees only its own entries: every system service read
'-- No entries --', and a person reached for a shell. The read now
escalates with sudo -n like the acts; ported to Go with every test. hq
