jschoubben f02f142af1 Tests put back the package state they set, so a loaded check machine trips no leaked bound
mesh/delivery merged: source.main moved to novox/mesh-sdk@7c015b652d36
mesh/delivery-group group feat/sdk1 merged: every member is merged
mesh/check failed: the composition: the composer at mesh-sdk f02f142af128b336c32a7f0059c5e1606bf9b1dc did not run: failed the composer git.novox.be/no…
The check of release sdk1 failed on TestStatePutWritesAKeyWhole: TestACallIsAskedAgainOnlyWhenItReachedNoOne
left busretry's Bound at 50 ms, and on a loaded machine the state test's first pause overran it. Second failure
of the kind "tests leave package-level state set".

Quick fix: restore busretry's waits in the one test and lengthen the state test's bound.
Thorough fix (chosen, the kind met twice): busretry.Waits sets the waits and returns their restore, used as
t.Cleanup(busretry.Waits(...)) by every test that sets them, each with a bound of seconds where it waits to
succeed; and servesAlone gives every test that serves its own runtime channel and Served, put back after it,
instead of tests clearing the channel an earlier one left. A scan of every test assignment to a package-level
variable found no other unrestored one.

jschoubben 5792c3b959 Keep the unit level within its bound: the counter test counts 400 not 2000, the deadline test waits 50 ms not 1 s (issue 895)
mesh/merge-gate head 5792c3b959d5 merged into trunk d4deecdb380b — pass, with a note: builds mesh-sdk (+41 dependent(s)) → ace, g14, novox, shanks; no bus …
mesh/repo-check head 5792c3b959d5 merged into trunk d4deecdb380b — pass: its merge-check.sh passed, each part in its toolchain: merge-check.sh (typescript)…

Both still prove what they did: the counter test still collides every run and fails when an increment
writes without its revision; the deadline test fails when the read after a failed write takes a later
deadline than the ask's.

jochen 9c548753b8 go: say an Increment error other than a lost write may have spent its number, refuse null, and prove the writers collided
mesh/repo-check pass: its merge-check.sh passed, each part in its toolchain: merge-check.sh (typescript), go/merge-check.sh (go)

mesh/merge-gate pass: builds mesh-sdk, sent nowhere; no bus step; every machine composes with the change as it did without (4 of 4 compose)
mesh/delivery-group group feat/a-counter-by-compare-and-set merged: every member is merged
The review of 2026-10-10: a timeout can come after the write landed, so a caller tolerates gaps; a null value
is no counter; and a contention test where no write was lost would prove nothing.

jochen c58ce2c7fe go: a counter by compare-and-set, so a number is handed out once (hq research 042)
mesh/delivery-group group feat/a-counter-by-compare-and-set checking: 0 of 2 member(s) ready
mesh/delivery superseded: a newer head of the same pull request
mesh/merge-gate pass: builds mesh-sdk, sent nowhere; no bus step; every machine composes with the change as it did without (4 of 4 compose)
mesh/repo-check pass: its merge-check.sh passed, each part in its toolchain: merge-check.sh (typescript), go/merge-check.sh (go)
The coming issues module hands out issue numbers from its own state; two instances must never hand out one
number twice. Create and Update already write by compare-and-set (ADR 0259), so State(...).Increment reads,
writes one more at the revision read, and on a lost write reads and tries again, bounded by the caller's
attempts. A lost write past the bound is ErrChanged, any other refusal and a value that is no counter are
returned at once: nothing is reported counted that was not written.

Part of the issue tracker decision, hq research 042.
