ARG NODE_BASE with the tag as default; every stage starts FROM ${NODE_BASE}; build.on declares the node image pinned by digest. Proven by genesis-single: the mesh built the tool runtime with the base copied into its own registry. Companion MRs on multiple-fixes: mesh-controller, mesh-catalog, mesh-lab, hq.
