The operator approved Phase 5. Decides what the design left open: the build seat runs the
merge check, the facts live in the artifact store, the merge gate composes the mesh as it is
and with the change and judges only what the change adds, a replay lives where its incident
is, and the controller's tests run a bus of their own at the mesh's release. A core issue now
resolves only with a replay or a stated reason, checked by cycle.py.
Planned bus upgrades and rotations after one leak raised healer-wanted,
because the exemption was keyed on two causes. Progressive insight: the
exemption is read from the verb table; the decisions stand.
The 103-module rebuild ADR 0236 put down to the build agent came from a file of the catalogue's
reference module, read as shared because its definition was not in the merge. Records the issue,
corrects ADR 0236's open question as a progressive insight (the tiering was right; the build agent
never widens a plan) and amends to-be 30's rule for what a merge changed.
The coordinator's review: at the switch to roll, every send would carry the old default's
backlog unjudged. Measured: 88 of the 103 rebuilt modules were byte-identical, and no
build waited on any machine.
Phase 4 of to-be 45, started by the operator: the core's health as probes, a gate on
every plan's first machine, the rollback there once per build, the witness's contract
with the host, the bus as a step a person starts, and — with those in place — rolling
out as the default, keeping record where a module says why. 47 pushes by hand in one
day are what it ends.
Record the single-sample flaw found across the probes and watchdogs, and
the summaries that carried addresses and paths past the operator channel's
content rule; amend to-be 45 §4 with the two-look rule and the summary rule.
Resolves ADR 0233's flagged item (the bus's streams copied as live files) as
a progressive insight pointing here. The bus module's own account is granted
the snapshot API and nothing else; restore builds a new store beside the live
one for a person to swap in. To-be 43 gains the bus's section and its restore
steps; design 25 and to-be 45 point to it.
Nothing large is walked; the first night's size on the home server is measured and stated, the
previews are left out, the platform database is dumped, and the bus's live copy is flagged.
The operator's direction after issue 273: what data a module keeps, how precious it is and how it
is protected is said once, in the manifest, and backups, sticky bindings, retirement on unassign
and the self-check's watch are derived from it. Amends to-be 18, 32, 43 and 45.
The operator found four gaps that would bite on first use: a lost phone
locked the mesh's only person out, an operator message had no addressee,
asks could not name the specifics they need, and the operator was a
holder's flag. Each is now a rule with its check and its build phase.
Research 028 graduates: the mesh needs to ask as well as tell, over
channels that are seats rather than code inside one notifier, and an
action a person must approve cannot rest on a desk click an agent can
forge. TOTP verified by the controller is the proof; a key stays optional.
Amends to-be 45 section 5 as ADR 0227 left it to.
Two modules existed only to say one thing each: networking required mesh-wireguard and nothing else,
and public-acme pointed the one proxy at Let's Encrypt. dhcpcd and cloudflare-dns are assigned
nowhere. Retire all four, keeping every machine's network and every certificate as they are.
Five passes are 25 s, shorter than a real hiccup; and a TypeScript provider's
remove can destroy, so retiring never calls it. Every TypeScript provider is
mark-only until it gains a retire that disables.
The operator's decision replaces ADR 0229's hourly release: the mesh no longer
finishes alone what its bound exists to question. To-be 45 and the module
protocol amended; 0229 and 0224 point to where their mechanism moved.
Phase 3 of to-be 45 was built: the details its section 7 left open are
decided in the record and the design says them as built — where budgets are
counted, the settle, what a healer may send, H4 on D6's consumer-behind, the
report verb's shape, the mesh-wide brake and S15.
Phase 2 of to-be 45 met questions its paragraphs do not answer: a strict
node-engine refuses an unknown key, a lease bucket can be raised again from
nothing, a command at a shell sends declarations too, and the bus's grant
is composed by the controller that needs it. The answers, the wire contract
and the withdrawal brake go into to-be 45 with issue 270's Phase 1
decisions; issue 272 records that the SDK's provider loop says nothing on
the bus.
The controller read 0113 as refusing to replace any value given to it, so
two leaked secrets only their own modules read could not be rotated without
a person handling a new value. Amends to-be 13 and points 0113 at it.
Phase 0 is being built in mesh-controller and mesh-host. Granting the
controller its own buckets showed that its grant never covered the work
queues' cancelled sets, so every cancel times out.
The operator approved the conclusion: the core must say when it is wrong
instead of waiting to be looked at. Record the nine rules with their
checks, and specify the parts and the six phases a build can take.
Issue 263: one global 20-character bound held keyless provisions to an
object store's key, was found only when a provider composed, and then
refused the provider's whole machine. Take ADR 0049's option C, check
overflows before merge, and leave an overflowing consumer out of its
provider's grants instead of refusing the provider.
The identity provider's admin lost the mesh's password again when its database
moved, and 31,000 silent failures followed. Record the recurrence, the rule
that makes a failing provider visible in status, and the module's self-repair.
The build of both parts is in review; the designs now say how they work and
are checked, and ADR 0223 records that the managers' own DNS mechanisms could
not write the mesh's file.
musl asks every listed nameserver at once and takes the first reply, so ADR
0196's public fallback answered NXDOMAIN for mesh names in every Alpine build
on the home server. Decide two mesh resolvers and no public line now; record
resolv.conf moving to the uplink's holder and /etc/hosts with /etc/hostname
moving to one hostname seat as the next steps. Amend to-be 08 and 26.
A named push's cascade sent every machine a build held back by `record` or by
a plan waiting on its first machine, so a change meant to be walked through
the mesh one machine at a time reached all of them at once (issue 259).
Records the decision, narrows ADR 0083's flush with a dated pointer, amends
to-be 30, and locates issue 259 in the controller.
The rule that keeps resolv.conf the mesh's was checked by nothing, and a
retired seat and an unused module still read as live options. Amends to-be
26 and 08 to match.
The operator asked for tools to see, cancel, clear, stop, pause, continue,
restart and replay builds; none existed. Queue actions are the controller's,
process actions the build seat's per machine, and every action that drops
work leaves a failed outcome so no plan waits on it. To-be 18 amended.
ADR 0218: grants before code, one machine first, a newer merge takes over an
older plan (to-be 30 amended). Issues 250 (a merge announced twice), 251 (the
record's checkout owned by another account), 252 (a merge's changed modules
read wrong), 253 (the collector would delete every kept archive; to-be 18
amended, ADR 0189 corrected as a progressive insight), 254 (plans run over
each other); 249 located.
Graduates research 029 and amends design 36 (section 8): skills, subagents,
commands, hooks and output styles in one nox-mesh plugin; servers, settings
and instructions in the managed files; mesh, node and home scopes.
Rules for what the agent may do were set by hand per machine, invisible to
the mesh, and a session cannot loosen its own permissions; design 36 now
takes them as a module setting under the mesh's own keys.
What runs since 2026-10-04 and what its first live use showed: refused
requests as timeouts, a late machine reading the whole set, the partial
secrets guard; the agent module and the licence manager on every machine.
Eleven node seats; a display as a provision with the machine's reach; other
modules' lines through the tool's own drop-in directory or ADR 0204's slots,
now also for xinitrc and xresources; the display server's module writes the
session's start.
