after: novox/mesh-host

Issue 594; decision: novox/hq ADR 0335. In a delivery group with mesh-host#98. Merged with origin/main (ADR 0350/0351/0352 gate changes); migration 0096 is still free on main.

What it does

  • Manifest: a container's busy (command, timeout default 10s, at most 1m) is checked by module check and composed only for a machine whose health statement says contract 8 (link.BusyContract). For an older engine it is not sent, and plan <node> says so per container.
  • Pin: mesh-host at #98's head b9a293f8c8bc, vendored, so the node-engine's validator knows busy. Re-pin if #98 moves.
  • Report: busy is kept with the machine's last account (node_report.busy, migration 0096); a wait starting or ending is news. The first report that says a container waits is kept as the send's apply duration (detail busy); the report that says it replaced adds a busy-wait duration of the same send, so apply times hold no busy time.
  • Gate: while the first machine lists a judged module's container waiting on the gate's send, the judging does not start and the walk says "waits for a busy container on ". It starts at the report that no longer lists it. The wait is bounded on this controller's clock (15 minutes from when it first read the wait, or the engine's own until if sooner, plus 5 minutes); past that the judging starts and holds the module not healthy while it is still listed waiting.
  • Walk: a busy-wait phase between send-first and judgement where one waited; a machine of the rest that answered and waits is busy, never silent, and its report is the end of its wait.
  • mesh-builder: busy drains the agent and answers 0 while a build is in hand. The drain lapses 2 minutes after the last ask (a withdrawn replacement no longer holds the agent); ready fails once the agent has been drained, and asked, for over 20 minutes; an unknown subcommand exits non-zero. A drained agent fetches nothing and hands back what it fetched (MachineOptions.Claim).
  • LastReports reads a machine with a report and no send as not current, instead of failing on NULL (what failed TestAReportOfABusyContainerIsKeptAndReadBack).

Tests (fail on main): gate waits and starts at the replaced report, is bounded on the controller's clock, an older engine starts as before; walk phase and the rest never silent; busy shape and composition; plan note; mesh-builder busy, drain lapse, drained too long, unknown subcommand, 200 racing ask/claim rounds; store test TestAReportOfABusyContainerIsKeptAndReadBack (needs the store; not run here).

TestTheInstallersFirstUserListIsWhatTheControllerWouldCompose failed at trunk 56d6313 against the mesh-host clone beside the check, not the vendored pin: trunk's test read a file mesh-host's running commit did not hold (another session's #282 failed it the same way). It passes on today's main, against mesh-host main.

gofmt, go vet and merge-check.sh pass (without a store).

A merge into mesh-controller replaced every build agent and threw away the
checks in flight (issue 594). The manifest's container busy is checked and
sent only to an engine that reads it; a report's busy waits are kept, the
gate starts at the report that says the container replaced, and the wait is
a phase of the delivery time. mesh-builder busy drains the agent and answers
while a build is in hand (novox/hq ADR 0335).
